Hollywood Bomb Scare

In Hollywood Tuesday afternoon, two packages left at the Hollywood-Highland Red Line Metro station under the popular Hollywood & Highland shopping center triggered a bomb scare, causing the station to be evacuated and parts of Hollywood Boulevard to be closed, according to The Wrap. An anonymous caller tipped off the police at roughly 2:30 p.m.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the LAPD arrived on the scene, and three hours later, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives Detail confirmed that the packages only contained clothing.

KTLA published a photo of a bomb squad car outside the shopping complex, which includes the Dolby Theater, the site of the 87th Academy Awards on February 22.

The Hollywood-Highland area has seen bomb scares before. In April 2013, Hollywood Boulevard was shut down due to a bomb scare inside the Hooters restaurant across from the TCL Chinese Theatre. In June, 2010, Hollywood Boulevard was closed for two hours after suspicious items were discovered inside a safety deposit box.
