Bundled Cable Deathwatch: Amazon Prime Subs Jump 53%

Even with a growing American population the number of subscribers to bundled cable and satellite television is declining. Not by huge numbers. One-hundred million homes are still being conned into making left-wing multinationals rich and subsidizing low-rated networks like CNN. Nevertheless, the momentum is all with Streaming. While bundled cable loses customers, Amazon Prime subscribers jumped a whopping 53%:

[Amazon CEO Jeff] Bezos addressed Amazon’s decision to increase the annual membership fee for Prime from $79 to $99 but didn’t give away the exact number of memberships, as analysts were hoping. He noted that the service has “tens of millions of members” and increased 53 percent last year. “When we raised the price of Prime membership last year, we were confident that customers would continue to find it the best bargain in the history of shopping,” he said. We’ll continue to work hard for our Prime members.”

The main lure to an Amazon Prime membership is Amazon’s pretty terrific streaming television service, which, quality-wise, is close to Netflix.

The Streaming Revolution all begins with changing people’s behavior. Once people are acquainted with Streaming, they are unlikely to go back. It’s too convenient and there are no commercials. Better still, because you are paying $10  a month instead of $100, you don’t get bitterly angry scrolling through the Streaming menu looking for something to watch. When you’re paying $100, the story is a little different.

As more time passes, people start to wonder why in the world they are paying all that money for cable.

That’s what most terrifies the left-wing multinational entertainment corporations, and it should.
