During an appearance on Conan this week, actress Katherine Heigl revealed she used to “pray and fast” for bigger boobs as a teenager because she was bullied for being flat-chested.
The 36-year-old actress, who grew up Mormon, admitted she used to plead with God to bless her with bigger assets.
“I was a real doormat in those years and I was a very late bloomer so by 14 and 15 I was super flat chested and the boys made a lot of fun of me,” she explained.
“My favorite was, ‘Hey Katie, would you wear shoes if you didn’t have feet?’ to which you reply, ‘No, of course not…’ And they reply, ‘Then why are you wearing a bra?’ It was pretty terrible!” said The Ugly Truth star.
Heigl then confessed she spent months and even years praying for a larger chest, “like that’s all I wanted,” she said. In addition to praying, she used to fast.
“I grew up Mormon and once a month you have a fast and testimony meeting and you’re supposed to skip two meals for things that matter,” she said. “I fasted for big boobs.”
Heigl now thinks God has punished her for being “shallow” as a teenager because he blessed her with big boobs, as she asked, which now makes it more difficult to “make sure everything stays tight and where it is supposed to.”
Conan O’Brien asked Heigl if she thinks God plotted against her for revenge to which she replied, “I do. Right, he’s like, ‘You’re that shallow, try this.'”
Katherine said her breasts naturally increased at the age of 15 while she was in Los Angeles shooting Under Siege 2 in 1995. When she returned, she was ridiculed for getting a breast augmentation.
“I thought it was hilarious, [but] I guess it is not that out of the ordinary. In my town in my day that was not something people did,” she said. “So I would just wear my tightest shirts I could flaunt it as much as I could. And get my revenge.”
