Stacey Dash: Gender Inequality Argument is an ‘Excuse,’ ‘I Will Not be a Victim’

Actress and Fox News Contributor Stacey Dash appeared on the Meredith Vieira Show Wednesday, where she discussed gender inequality in the workplace.

During the interview, Dash explained why she feels those who blame lower wages on gender inequality are using it as an excuse.

“It’s the same thing with race, it’s an excuse,” said Dash. “Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities seize them and be prepared for them and be the best if that’s what it takes.

“If you have to be extraordinary then be extraordinary,” she added.

Vieira said she feels women are fighting an uphill battle as she cited statistics regarding women’s earnings, which are $.78 for every dollar men make, to which Dash responded:

I know the numbers are true, but I feel like your daughter will be able to make as much money as she wants in her life just like you are. I mean look at you. The success you have.

Vieira explained that while she is successful, it took her many years to receive pay equal to her male counterparts.

“I won’t put my fate into anything other than my own action. And taking my destiny in my hands. I will not be a victim,” said Dash. “If you want to be pissed off about it then be pissed off about it and work harder for it.”

Gender inequality and equal pay has become a hot topic in recent months, as some of Hollywood’s biggest stars continue to speak out.

The actress sparked controversy in 2012 after she tweeted her support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Dash joined Fox News Channel as a contributor last May.

She has since used her platform to discuss her opinions regarding pop culture and politics.
