Bill Cosby Statue Removed from Walt Disney World

Bill Cosby is no longer welcome at Walt Disney World.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, a bronze statue which paid tribute to the comedian, who has been accused of sexual assault by more than two dozen women, was removed Tuesday night from a section of the Hollywood Studios theme park that honors TV legends.

The news comes days after the Associated Press obtained and released a copy of a 2005 court document, in which Cosby admitted to purchasing quaaludes with the intent to give to women he planned to have sex with.

Brittany Gavrilova, a niece of one of Cosby’s alleged victims, told WESH this week that she supported the theme park’s removal of the statue.

“Especially now that a document has been released where he has admitted to it, I don’t think that someone like that should be placed on a pedestal, especially where people bring their families,” she said.

Gavrilova called for a removal of the landmark when she filed a petition on Change.org several months ago.

As a special feature of the park’s Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza, Cosby stood beside notable TV legends such as Lucille Ball, Dick Clark, Andy Griffith, Oprah Winfrey, and Walt Disney, but those days are gone.

A new video posted to YouTube Wednesday shows the bronze statue of the embattled comedian has been removed.

Both Atlanta-based African American TV network Bounce, along with Centric, owned by BET, simultaneously announced Tuesday that all Cosby reruns would be yanked from their schedules.
