Baseball Team Holding Event to Support Shop Where Ariana Grande Licked Doughnut

A Southern California community is coming together to support Wolfee Donuts, the site of pop singer Ariana Grande’s infamous anti-American doughnut licking incident, for an event scheduled by the city’s minor league baseball team.

Grande made comments such as, “I hate America,” and “I hate Americans,” as she licked and spit on a tray of uncovered breakfast pastries during a visit to Wolfee in Lake Elsinore on the 4th of July. The bakery was subsequently downgraded from an “A” to a “B” rating by the Riverside County Health Department.

Despite an investigation by law enforcement, the 22-year-old isn’t expected to face any charges, but that doesn’t mean the Lake Elsinore Storm doesn’t have plans to remedy the situation.

The team took to Facebook and Twitter this week to announce a scheduled “celebration” of America and Americans Wednesday July 15 during a game against the Visalia Rawhide.

“We stand with our friends at Wolfee Donuts and DO-NUT support the unpatriotic pop star,” a Facebook post reads.

The team also tweeted:

Friday, the Storm said on its website the first 1,000 fans to enter the game will receive an “unlicked donut courtesy of Wolfee’s Donuts, and anyone who brings in a Wolfee’s Donuts receipt will get a ticket for $5.”

“We wanted to show support for Wolfee’s Donuts, America and the local community,” team General Manager Raj Narayanan said about the night. “We want to ‘Break Free’ of Ariana Grande at the ballpark.”

The festivities will also include:

A donut-licking contest

Donut ring toss

Specials on donuts in the concession stands

A salute to Demi Lovato (who is replacing Ms. Grande as the headliner at the MLB All-Star Game next week)

“I now have ‘One Less Problem’ without her in my music library,” Storm mascot Thunder said. “I will no longer ‘Bang-Bang’ on my trash can nor order any Grande coffees.”

Wolfee owner Joe Marin told Us magazine after the security video of Grande’s visit went viral the star was “rude” to his employees during her visit, and described the incident:

She was looking around, and that’s when I saw she was licking two of the donuts. Then she went to another tray that was on top and there was a tray of powdered donuts. So I zoomed [the camera into] her mouth, and the powdered ones, she did not lick them, she spit on those. She spit on one of them, and she dared that guy she was seeing and he spit on it, too. I saw they were getting a kick out of it and the two friends she brought, they saw what he did, too.

Grande has now issued a pair apologies and said Wednesday, “I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country.”

She had been scheduled to perform at the MLB All-Star Game concert in Cincinnati, OH this weekend, but was replaced by Demi Lovato after undergoing emergency oral surgery.

While Grande won’t be appearing at the Major League event, those in the minors haven’t forgotten about her actions. Aside from planned festivities at Wednesday’s game in support of Wolfee, which are sure to help, Marin said this week his business has already “tripled” since the star’s July 4 visit.
