Star Wars fans have been clamoring for new footage and details of the upcoming seventh installment, The Force Awakens, ever since the first extended trailer for the film debuted in March.
The official Star Wars Instagram page obliged die-hard fans by releasing a new 15-second teaser for the film on Thursday.
While the teaser is light on plot or character details, we do get a pretty sweet shot of John Boyega’s Stormtrooper character Finn facing off against new villain Kylo Ren, played by series newcomer Adam Driver.
Not much is known about Ren other than what director J.J. Abrams revealed in a recent interview with Empire magazine. The events in Episode VII: The Force Awakens reportedly take place decades after the last official (timeline-wise) entry in the Star Wars canon, 1983’s Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
“Kylo Ren is not a Sith,” Abrams told the magazine. “He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”
Either way, we now know who Ren is fighting when he busts out that crazy-looking lightsaber in the second trailer.
We also know that this priest probably dug the new teaser trailer.
