‘Ghost Adventures’ Couple Found Dead After Police Standoff

A ghost-hunting couple that had guest-starred on a reality television program about the paranormal were found dead inside their daughter’s Sparks, Nevada, apartment earlier this week, police said Thursday.

Mark and Debra Constantino, who had been featured on the Travel Channel television show Ghost Adventures between 2008 and 2011, were found shot to death on Tuesday after a standoff with Nevada police, reports Reuters.

Police told the outlet that law enforcement had been negotiating a hostage situation with Mark Constantino outside the apartment before Constantino fired on the officers. Sources told Reuters that police did not fire back at Constantino. Police then reportedly breached the apartment using explosives and found both victims dead.

Authorities said the Constantinos’ deaths were connected to the death of another man, 55-year-old James Anderson, who was reportedly found dead of a gunshot wound to the head inside a Reno apartment Tuesday morning. While police investigated Anderson’s death, they discovered that his roommate, Debra Constantino, was missing (the Constantinos were reportedly estranged) and tracked her to the Sparks apartment.

There, police reportedly engaged in a two-hour standoff with Mark Constantino. Constantino reportedly told police, “Give me 15 minutes to gather my thoughts, or I’ll kill her,” according to the Reno Gazette-Journal. Police entered the apartment after hearing a single gunshot, where they found both victims dead.

According to Fox News, the Constantinos were in the process of divorcing and had been scheduled to appear in court in December. Debra had reportedly filed a restraining order against her estranged husband last week.

The couple were featured in four episodes of the Travel Channel’s long-running Ghost Adventures series. They were credited as Electronic Voice Phenomena experts, who were adept at recording the sounds of ghosts.
