WATCH: Hero Alek Skarlatos’ Dance Dedicated To Roseburg

On Monday’s episode of the hit ABC show Dancing with the Stars, contestant Alek Skarlatos dedicated his performance to his hometown of Roseburg, Oregon.

Before being invited to be a contestant on DWTS, Oregon Army National Guard specialist Skarlatos first came to international fame this past summer after he and two colleagues took down an Islamist terror suspect on a French train. Skarlatos and his friends were awarded the Legion d’Honneur and as Breitbart News reported, on an appearence on MSNBC his father spoke about terrorism:

“Can I just say one quick thing?” Mr. Skarlatos asked, after (the hose) thanked him for his time. “It’s better to die like a lion that be slaughtered like sheep. And this terrorist coward deserved what he got, and the PC crowd needs to recognize terrorism for what it is. And I thank you for having me on.”

After the trio were hailed as heroes, Skarlatos got the offer to be on the Dancing With The Stars. If he had not taken the opprotunity, Skarlatos says he would have been at Umpqua Community College on the day of the shooting.

On the day of shooting, Skarlatos rushed home to Roseburg. He attended the candlelight vigil held that same night.

On Monday, Skarlatos was back on the show and in a serious mood. The show prepared a video memorial to Roseburg then Skarlatos and partner Lindsay Arnold performed. They recieved a score of 24 out of 30 points.
