Former basketball star Lamar Odom was taking excess quantities of an herbal Viagra supplement and was visibly upset over his portrayal on Keeping Up with the Kardashians prior to being found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel Tuesday.
Lamar is currently fighting for his life at a Las Vegas, NV hospital, after a days-long party binge at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada left him unconscious.
Sources at the brothel tell TMZ Odom showed up Saturday and was “chill.” However, sometime on Sunday, he received a phone call from someone telling him he had been portrayed negatively on KUWTK.
On the episode, Lamar made a pair of phone calls to Khloe about the death of a friend and tried to enter a club where Khloe and Kim were hanging out.
Following the phone call, Lamar “lost it” and remained in a state of disarray until he was found unconscious, per TMZ’s sources.
The basketball star had reportedly been drinking cognac and taking large amounts of a Viagra supplement.
Similar erectile dysfunction drugs to the one believed taken by Odom have been linked to strokes, kidney failure, liver damage, and death.
Additionally, TMZ reports a witness at the hospital who is currently treating Odom said doctors found both cocaine and opiates in his system–and also discovered track marks on one of his arms.
He also had a fluid buildup in his lungs, which doctors believe is a result of prior use of crack cocaine, per TMZ, and is fighting organ failure.
Odom, 35, won back-to-back NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010. The forward was selected by the Clippers as the number four overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft, having played one year at the University of Rhode Island.
He married Khloe Kardashian in 2009 in a televised wedding special featured on E!, but the couple divorced in 2013.
The two also starred together in E!’s Khloe and Lamar.
Odom has reportedly struggled with drug addiction for years; however, following his separation from Khloe, he became addicted to crack, according to the New York Daily News.
The Daily News reports Odom’s father, Joe, has publicly blamed the Kardashian family for his son’s drug problems.
In other scorned Kardashian lover news, Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick, is rumored to be fighting his own demons following a separation from the family.
A person close to the 32-year-old estranged TV star claimed Wednesday he is is “depressed and out of control,” and is regularly mixing cocaine, Xanax and Ativan with excess amounts of alcohol, according to the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, former Kardashian family patriarch Bruce Jenner has been named Glamour magazine’s Woman of the Year.
