Watch: Tom Hanks Takes on Cold War-Era Russia in Spielberg’s ‘Bridge of Spies’

Steven Spielberg’s highly-anticipated Cold War espionage thriller Bridge of Spies hits theaters this Friday, October 16.

The film stars two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks as James Donovan, “a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.”

Spies marks Spielberg’s return to the director’s chair for the first time since 2012’s Lincoln.

The film has already received plenty of positive buzz ahead of its release. Critic ratings aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gives Spies a 92% “Certified Fresh” rating.

Alan Alda, Mark Rylance, and Amy Ryan co-star.

Matt Charman penned the script along with three-time Oscar-winners Joel and Ethan Coen.
