WATCH: Eagles of Death Metal Singer Breaks Down While Describing Paris Terror Attack

Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes broke down as he gave a first-person account of the shooting rampage that left at least 89 people dead inside the Bataclan theater during the terrorist attacks that struck Paris last week.

Hughes and bandmate Josh Homme, who was not performing with the group at the time of the attack, sat down with Vice to describe what happened in the aftermath of the attacks.

“Several people hid in our dressing room, and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them, except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket,” Hughes told Vice.

“People were playing dead and they were so scared,” he added, his voice breaking. “A great reason why so many were killed was because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people.”

None of the members of the California-based rock band were injured or killed in the attack, however the band’s merchandise manager, Nick Alexander, was shot to death inside the club.

The Eagles of Death Metal have since cancelled their tour and returned to the United States.

The Vice interview will air in full next week.
