Drake’s dad reveals the one gift his son always wanted as a little boy – a dreidel.

Instead of video games or remote-controlled cars, little Drake asked his parents to get him the spinning top that Jewish children all over the world play with during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

In a video interview with TMZ, Drake’s father, who lives in Memphis, said: “He always used to look forward to the eight days of gifts and then Christmas. So he had both of them.” See the exchange here.

Drake’s father is African-American while his mother is a white Jewish Canadian.  The hip-hop artist grew up in Toronto, Ontario and attended a Jewish day school. At the age of thirteen, Drake had a Bar Mitzvah.

In a 2013 interview, Drake revealed that some people are shocked by his colorful origins. “A lot of people are like, ‘Wait, what – you’re Canadian, you’re Jewish? And you’re half black?’ You know it’s just a mind-blowing thing to them,” said Drake.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he added.
