Former “Opie and Anthony” radio show host Anthony Cumia was arrested and charged over the weekend for allegedly hitting and strangling a woman at his Long Island, New York home.
Cumia, 54, and 26-year-old Danielle Brand allegedly got into a verbal spat on Saturday, Dec. 19. After the confrontation turned physical, Brand began live-streaming the aftermath of the alleged confrontation on the video streaming app Periscope.
“Hi, I’m in Long Island, I got my hand broken, I’m waiting for police to come,” says Brand in a video posted online. “I tried to call the police, but he turned the phone off,” she adds.

After the radio host approaches her in the video, Brand says, “Oh my God, don’t hit me!”
Cumia tells her, “I’ll pay you to leave my house,” to which Brand responds, “I don’t need you to pay for a car, I need you to pay for my f–king broken hand!”
Cumia later laughingly says, “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the Anthony and Dani Show!”
He is accused of strangling and pinning Brand up against a wall. Brand also alleges he stomped on her hand and smashed her cellphone after she tried to call the police. After she tried again to call the police from his home’s landline, he allegedly ripped the phone out of the wall.
Brand also reportedly smashed Cumia’s cell phone.
According to The Daily Mail, the controversial radio personality was arrested and charged with strangulation, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, and assault. He was released on Sunday without bail and ordered him to stay away from Brand.
Cumia’s attorney Alan Schwartz says his client “emphatically denies the allegations.”
SiriusXM radio fired Cumia from his show in 2014, after he posted a series of tweets about a black woman who allegedly attacked him at New York’s Times Square.
Cumia called the woman, who allegedly hit him multiple times, an “animal b—h” and a “savage.”
The company described his tweets as “racially-charged and hate-filled.”
He currently hosts “The Anthony Cumia Show.”
