David Spade Slams Obama for Being ‘Thirsty’ for Attention: ‘Have a Little More Dignity’

David Spade is unimpressed with the President and First Lady’s constant appearances on reality television and talk shows.

In a recent brief interview with TMZ, the former Saturday Night Live castmember and funnyman blasted Barack and Michelle Obama for being “thirty” for celebrity-style attention.

“A President should have a little more dignity,” Spade told the outlet of Obama’s recent appearance on NBC’s reality program Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

“I mean, I realize that Woodrow Wilson went on Dancing with the Stars once, but what president is doing reality shows? It just sounds weird to me,” Spade joked.

The actor had criticized Obama’s appearance on the show in a tweet earlier this month: “Why is Obama on Bear Grylls trying to survive in the tundra? Isnt the idea to keep the prez alive? And why is he on a reality show? Wtf ?”

Spade also reserved some criticism for First Lady Michelle Obama, whom he said goes on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show more than he does.

“What First Lady?… It’s just a new world. I’m not used to it. It just seems a bit thirsty for me, that’s all,” he added. “I think they’re going to do fine, but they’re sort of plotting [for] after the White House.”

The comedian couldn’t resist getting in a couple more jokes at the President’s expense.

“He’s on GQ? I’m like, ‘Leave that to Bradley Cooper.’ You’re above all of us, you’re above the stars, above everything,” Spade finished. “When he’s trying to get in the mix like, ‘I want to present at the MTV Awards,’ it’s like, ‘Alright guy, relax.'”

Spade’s own show, Fameless, received a back-order for an additional 10 episodes in October. The series airs on TruTV.
