Kanye West’s 2015 American Idol audition has been released.
In October, West stopped by the 15th and final season of the show for a surprise audition in San Francisco. Video of the audition was released on Monday.
“My name is Kanye; I’m from the south side of Chicago,” West tells the show’s judges. “I’m originally a producer. I always wanted to rap and no one really believed in me, so I wanted to try some things out, ya know?”
Observing the audition on a nearby monitor, West’s wife Kim Kardashian tells host Ryan Seacrest, “I’m not really nervous because I do really believe in him. I didn’t give any advice on singing, rapping. I just really believe in him.”
After performing an a cappella version of his 2005 hit “Gold Digger,” which features Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, the judges advance West to the next round with a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

The final season of American Idol will premiere on Fox on Wednesday Jan. 6.
