‘Dog Whisperer’ Cesar Millan Investigated for Animal Cruelty

Famed “Dog Whisperer” Cesar Millan is being investigated for alleged animal cruelty in Los Angeles, California.

TheWrap reported late Thursday Millan is being investigated by Los Angeles County Animal Control officers and Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies after they received an animal cruelty complaint.

Deputy Director Danny Ubario of L.A. County Animal Control told the outlet on Thursday his office had visited Millan’s Santa Clarita dog psychology center after receiving a complaint online.

TMZ reported Millan’s show, National Geographic Wild’s Cesar 911, recently featured a dog attacking a pig during a training session.

A source told the site the investigation is directly related to the well-being of the pig.

NatGeo released the following statement, which was obtained by CBS News:

Millan was working with Simon, a French bulldog/terrier mix, who frequently attacked other animals, including his owner’s pet pot-bellied pigs. A short clip from the episode was shared online and showed Simon chasing a pig and nipping its ear, causing the ear to bleed. The clip caused some concern for viewers who did not see or understand the full context of the encounter. The pig that was nipped by Simon was tended to immediately afterward, healed quickly and showed no lasting signs of distress.

The statement added that Millan was able to correct the dog’s behavior.
