Flavor Flav: Trump Wants to Fight the Power, but GOP is Trying to ‘Block’ Nomination

Members of the rap group Public Enemy are split on what to make of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

At South by Southwest last Saturday in Austin, Texas group member Flavor Flav told Billboard he thinks Trump could change Washington politics.

Flav, who is legally named William Jonathan Drayton Jr., commented in support of Trump after his fellow “Fight the Power” rapper, Chuck D, flipped off fans at the event and declared, “Black lives matter! F—k Donald Trump!”

“I’m not really the politician of the group,” the 56-year-old told the outlet after a performance by the group. “There’s a lot of people talking a lot of s—t about Trump, but guess what? He’s winning.”

Flavor Flav continued: “The man is winning. I ain’t gonna lie, but listen, the United States has been ran a certain way for decades and decades and decades. You never know: Maybe Trump could possibly do something. Maybe he might step in office and do something. I’m not going to doubt him.”

Flavor Flav then accused the Republican establishment of attempting to “block” Trump from winnning the nomination.

“Put it this way,” he said, “If this was really, really a foot race, Donald Trump would be the first one to the finish line, but they won’t let him cross it first.”

The rapper concluded: “That’s the way I feel, you know what I’m saying? Because he’s winning fairly, but they still don’t want him to be president. They’re going to try to block that man from being president. If Donald Trump does become president, there’s only one thing we all can do: just sit back and let the man do his job.”
