Hollywood actor and environmental activist Mark Ruffalo co-stars in a new ad for Sen. Bernie Sanders in which he complains the Democratic presidential candidate is the victim of a “virtual media blackout.”

“People feel like they have given up on the system, and that is exactly what the bad guys want us to do — they want us to give up on the system,” Ruffalo says in the video, which was directed by and co-stars Matthew Cooke.

Ruffalo and Cooke also tout Sanders for his economic and environmental proposals and praise the democratic socialist for embracing climate change science.

According to Variety, the video is the first of a new series of videos slated to be released by the Sanders campaign amid complaints that Sanders is largely being ignored by the media in favor of Hillary Clinton and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

In an interview with the outlet, Ruffalo said there has been a “virtual media blackout of him [Sanders] since the start of his campaign.”

“He has been on a serious media diet for whatever reason,” he said. “Part of it is the infatuation and fetish-ization of Trump in the media class.”

The actor said he asked journalists while he was working on Spotlight, “What’s going on?”

“They just basically say that Trump has sucked all the air out of the room,” Ruffalo told Variety. “But no matter what it is, it has to stop.”

The actor also said he thinks Sanders can still defeat Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary and suggested that Clinton should choose Sanders as her running mate, should she win the nomination.

“Is it a tough, uphill battle? Yes. Is it impossible? No,” he said, while also noting that “conventional thinking has been turned on its head” during the 2016 election cycle.
