Barbra Streisand used her signature voice Friday night to skewer Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a high-dollar LGBT-focused New York City fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.
The 74-year-old ten-time Grammy-winner belted out a re-worked version of the 1973 Stephen Sondheim classic “Send in the Clowns,” substituting the original’s lyrics for anti-Trump verses.
“Something’s amiss, I don’t approve/If he were running the free world, where would we move?” Streisand sang, to raucous laughter. “Name me a town? Just who is this clown?”

“And when we thought we’d heard it all/Huffing and puffing about his big fantasy wall, making his entrance on stage/He just shoots from the hip/He’s full of bull, he’s lost his grip!”
The Friday night “LGBT for Hillary” event at Cipriani Wall Street was held to benefit Hillary for America. Tickets started at $1,200 for dinner and topped out at $250,000, with maximum contributors scoring a meet-and-greet with the candidate.
Approximately 1,000 people attended the event, according to the Independent.
Streisand has raised money for the Democratic Party and has been particularly vocal in her support for Hillary Clinton this year. During the first night of her cross-country tour in August, the singer said she hoped to have the chance to sing her hit song “Happy Days Are Here Again” when Clinton wins the presidency. Streisand previously sang at Bill Clinton’s inauguration gala in 1993.
The singer has also made no secret of her disdain for Trump. In an August interview with 60 Minutes, Streisand said she would move to Australia if the billionaire businessman becomes president. In November, Streisand called the prospect of a Trump presidency “terrifyingly scary.”
Clinton was scheduled to travel to California for a series of fundraisers in Los Angeles and San Francisco this week, however Politico reported Sunday that the trip has been cancelled. Clinton’s campaign said in a statement Sunday that the candidate had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday.
