The New York Police Department is seeking a rapper who goes by the name “Whitey GZ,” whom they claim opened fire on an individual with whom he was meeting to film a music video.

The incident occurred in the Bronx on Wednesday night around 10:45 pm.

According to CBS New York, police say the rapper and the victim were “at the apartment to shoot a music video. The victim was supposed to star in the video and Whitey GZ was supposed to film it.”

But police believe the rapper’s real intention was “to rob the victim of his cellphone and backpack” and when the victim resisted, Whitey GZ shot him.

The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he is in “stable condition.”

Police are looking for “Whitey GZ.” They describe him as having dreadlocks, an “Almost Impossible” tattoo on his left arm, and a “Dream for Success” tattoo on his right. The NYPD is asking anyone with information on “Whitey GZ” to call (800) 577-TIPS.
