Luke Bryan appeared to punch a concertgoer in the face Wednesday night after the man reportedly made crude hand gestures toward the country singer, Bryan’s representative said.

The 40-year-old crooner was performing his hit single “Move” at the Volunteer Jam at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena when, in the middle of the song, he appeared to step down toward the audience and deliver a blow to the man’s face.

A representative for the multiple CMA Award-winning singer released a statement following the incident.

“A man in [the] front row was making crude hand gestures toward Luke during his performance,” Bryan’s rep said in a statement to Entrainment Tonight. “It was insulting not only to him, but more importantly to the men, women and families sitting around him who were there to support and celebrate Charlie Daniels and the efforts of raising money for the military veterans – some of who were in the audience.”

“The concert security personnel saw the man’s disruptive actions of the event and he was escorted out,” the statement said.

Proceeds from Wednesday night’s Volunteer Jam went to programs benefitting U.S. military veterans and their families. Kid Rock, Travis Tritt, Chris Stapelton and Larry the Cable Guy also appeared at the event.
