Rose McGowan has blasted her fellow actresses’ plans to wear all black dresses to this year’s Golden Globes as a show of solidarity and protest amid Hollywood’s ongoing sexual misconduct scandal.

In a post to her Twitter account Saturday, the 44-year-old former Charmed star called out actresses who have worked with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein in the past for remaining “silent” about his behavior and about others in Hollywood.

McGowan specifically name-checked Meryl Streep, whom she also criticized on social media last week.

“Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in a silent protest. YOUR SILENCE is THE problem,” McGowan wrote. “You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy.”

McGowan also added a dig at Weinstein’s fashion designer wife Georgina Chapman, who has since left him: “Maybe you should all wear Marchesa,” she wrote.

Reports emerged this week that several A-list actresses — including Streep, Emma Stone, Judi Dench, Michelle Williams, Sally Hawkins, and numerous others — are planning to wear black dresses to the Golden Globes this year as a way to protest the ongoing sexual abuse scandal in Hollywood. The move could be one of several political statements made during awards season this year as the fallout from the scandal continues; also this week, the Screen Actors Guild Awards announced that all thirteen of the presenters at this year’s ceremony would be women.

McGowan — who has accused Weinstein of raping her in the 1990s — has become one of the most outspoken celebrity figures in the scandal. An October New York Times exposé into Weinstein’s behavior reported that McGowan accepted a financial settlement from the producer related to unspecified sexual misconduct.

As an increasing number of individuals have been accused of misconduct, McGowan has frequently criticized either the industry’s reaction or the individuals themselves, including Streep, Kevin Spacey, and Ben Affleck.

This month, McGowan turned on Streep after the latter actress characterized Weinstein’s behavior as “the most gargantuan example of disrespect” across multiple industries dealing with similar accusations.

“No, Meryl, IT’S A F***ING CRIME,” McGowan fired off in a tweet. “You are such a lie.”

The Golden Globes will be broadcast on January 7 live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
