Republican Actress Stacey Dash Running for Congress in California

Conservative actress Stacey Dash will make a run for Congress in California’s 44th District, according to paperwork filed with the Federal Election Commission this week.

The filing dated Monday, February 26 shows the 51-year-old Clueless actress will run as a Republican in California’s heavily Democratic 44th, which includes areas of Long Beach, Compton, Watts, and Carson.

The filing includes what appeared to be a link to campaign website, dashtodc.com, though the link did not appear to be working Monday afternoon.

Dash did not comment publicly about her run on Monday, but had appeared to hint at the possibility on her Twitter account in the days leading up to Monday’s filing.

California’s 44th district is currently represented by Rep. Nanette Barragán, a Democrat.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton won the district by an overwhelming margin, 83-12 percent, during the 2016 presidential race, according to CNN.

Dash has become a conservative commentator in recent years, joining Fox News as a contributor in 2014.

In 2016, Dash launched an initiative called Dash America with the intention of energizing and empowering conservatives to take back influence in progressive-dominated Hollywood.

“I believe that instead of allowing others to divide us and hold us down, we must empower one another to rise up and unite for the sake of our great nation and the values that have made us the strongest country in the world, a true beacon of freedom for all people and all nations under God for centuries,” Dash said at the time.

The actress published a memoir in 2016 entitled There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative, in which she discussed her conservative political views.
