The world premiere of Alex Gibney’s “Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine” at South-by-Southwest in Austin was expected to be a celebration of the life and times of the departed founder of Apple Inc. Instead, the movie trashes Jobs and ridicules the global outpouring of emotion that greeted the Apple leader’s 2011 death. Gibney slimes Jobs as less than rock star or a writer of fiction, “but merely a man who sold us things.”

Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ Debuts with $70.1 Million Weekend Box-Office Haul

Disney’s recent streak continued over the weekend with the $70.1 million North American debut of its traditional, sumptuously costumed fairy tale adaptation “Cinderella,” according to studio estimates Sunday. Interest in the film, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James of “Downton Abbey”, was boosted by a “Frozen” short, “Frozen Fever,” that played before the feature.

British pop superstar Phil Collins received a unique honor this week, as the Texas Legislature issued a resolution recognizing him as an honorary Texan, for the donation of “his magnificent collection of historical artifacts to the State of Texas for display at the Alamo.”
