CA Offers More Money to Keep Film/TV in State

On Thursday, The California Film Commission Board of Directors accepted California’s new tax credit program. The state of California, desperate to keep fleeing TV and film productions from leaving the state, tripled its annual budget for film/TV credits last summer, and now that the Film Commission has approved, will send the measure to the governor’s Office of Administrative Law for review and final approval.

Malcolm X’s Daughter’s Bizarre ‘N-Word’ Theory

Celebrity gossip site TMZ.com approached Malcolm X’s daughter Ilyasah Shabazz and asked her about the “N-word” in hip hop. Shabazz agreed that the widespread use of the word was “ridiculous,” but added that white people should be able to use it in hip hop music as well: “If you’re going to use it, then everybody should be able to use it, right?” she said.

United Talent Agency has announced it will be the first Hollywood firm to launch a fine arts division.

As one of the largest talent agencies in the world, UTA’s new division plans to serve as a super gallery for clients, which it hopes will open a new market and revenue stream for the agency.
