CNN Refuses to Cave to Media Matters' Ongoing Crusade to Blacklist the Right

Something strange happened today. Something, in fact, I never thought was possible. I not only gained some respect for a cable news network not named FOX, but I have, of all organizations, the George Soros-funded, 501(c)(3) Media Matters to thank for it. In Media Matters never-ending crusade to purify the news into their unholy Leftist vision, we here at the Bigs all knew that once our very own Dana Loesch was hired by CNN as a political contributor, that Soros’ minions would then set out to do what they always do, and that’s find a way to convince CNN to drop her. We didn’t know how they would go about it, we just knew that they would. Because attempting to blacklist conservatives off the air is their specialty.

And no, the word “blacklist” is not hyperbole. After Media Matters and its ilk successfully intimidated ABC News into dropping Andrew Breitbart from an election night townhall event, Media Matters own David Brock released a statement with a chilling warning directed at the media world, “…[this] serves as a warning to other outlets before they too gamble with their credibility.” And guess who’s the judge, jury, and executioner deciding exactly when a news outlet has “gambled with their credibility.”

So yes, we obviously expected Media Matters to make good on that promise. What we didn’t expect, though, was that they would go about it in the stupidest way possible. Well, that’s not exactly true. Andrew Breitbart did expect that (and won the office pool!). But how stupid does Media Matters think CNN is? Well, this stupid:

CNN’s Loesch: CNN Has “Blatant Disregard For Objectivity,” “Biggest Bunch Of Idiot Blockheads”

And what follows that hysterical headline is no less than 1800 words of obsessively researched material documenting every criticism of CNN Dana Loesch has uttered since, well, maybe high school.

Oh, bravo Media Matters. Way to flex the research muscle of your legion of tax-exempt “Senior Fellows,” who I picture scribbling away like sexless monks under the eye-straining light of energy-saving lightbulbs in a large cubicle-filled room where a lotioned-up Eric Boehlert rhythmically beats a large drum to keep the “Galley Fellows” on pace.

First off, did Media Matters think for a second CNN hadn’t already done their own research? Who believes an organization as large and sophisticated as CNN doesn’t have Google? Furthermore, Dana’s a conservative running a Web site called Big Journalism for a guy named Andrew Breitbart. Gee, you think maybe she’s criticized CNN once or twice? You think maybe CNN probably added two-plus-two and discovered four before they offered her the gig?

And this was only round two. Before the Soros Boys decided to drop this oh-so shocking revelation that a conservative media watcher has been critical of CNN, their first move to see Dana blacklisted came earlier this week when they laid down the Racial McCarthyism card.

Tuesday Boehlert presented this nonsense, followed by this on Twitter:

Laughably, if you read Boehlert’s own article it proves how provably and willfully deceptive those Tweets are.

But this is Media Matters, where truth and context work like Kryptonite.

CNN’s response to all this? A thing of beauty:

CNN has always been a news organization committed to having political analysts and commentators from across the entire political spectrum. As an independent news organization we don’t take sides. Naming someone a ‘CNN Contributor’ doesn’t mean we endorse their political viewpoint. Instead, it means we have added them to our wide of range of voices which also includes invited guests and analysts on our TV networks, as well as opinion leaders on the CNN.com Opinion section.

I’m as harsh a media critic as anyone, but you have to respect CNN for, first, hiring someone’s who’s been openly and publicly critical of them. Secondly, you also have to respect CNN’s refusal to cave to Media Matters special brand of ideological blacklisting.

That said, praising the mainstream media has me all out of sorts now. I don’t feel like me. Thankfully, though, there’s always the memory of ABC News caving to Media Matters to help box the old compass.
