'Pizza Man': MSM's Racially-Driven Attack on Herman Cain's Resume Begins

There are threats to the political power held by the left (and therefore the media) and then there are THREATS. In their quest to unseat a failed president and undo ObamaCare, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry are threats. Herman Cain on the other hand, is a THREAT, an existential threat to the Left for the very same reasons Sarah Palin is an existential threat: he’s conservative and not a white male.

Does this sound like a “Pizza Man” to you?

The mainstream media is perfectly comfortable running against middle-aged white guys. Sure, Perry or Romney could win the presidency, but with them in office the comfortable boilerplate remains in place and reassures the media that the Left will live to fight and win another day. More importantly, all the tools remain safely in place to win that day; cynical, un-American wedge issues such as race and gender — for these wedge issues also happen to be the very same issues that hold the fractured left-wing coalition together; and a one percentage loss this way or another could bring the Democratic Party down forever.

And that’s what I mean by an “existential threat” and that’s why the craven media so venomously attacks apostates whose very existence threatens to make the scales fall from the left-wing eyes of those who only know they’re supposed to be disenfranchised but don’t really understand why. Clarence Thomas must be marginalized and destroyed. He cannot become a black role model … he’s conservative. Sarah Palin must be relentlessly whack-a-moled until she just goes away … she’s conservative. And now we have the media going right at Herman Cain and his many impressive accomplishments.

Herman Cain’s resume is, regardless of your personal political beliefs, a mind blower. Raised in a working class family (his mother was a domestic worker, his father a barber, chauffeur, and janitor), the self-made Cain got two college degrees and then became a legend in the world of private business. As the regional vice president of Pillsbury’s Burger King division he turned 450 Burger King restaurants around and as CEO of Godfather’s Pizza he saved that company from bankruptcy. This led to him running the National Restaurant Association and serving on Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

With that kind of history (and his full recovery from stage IV cancer), Herman Cain could either run for American Folk Hero or American President, but he chose president and now he’s having to contend with a hostile media determined to marginalize and diminish his resume and undermine his seriousness as a candidate with, among other things, the nickname Pizza Man.

Here’s ABC News reacting to Cain’s surprise trouncing of Perry and Romney in Saturday’s all-important Florida Straw Poll:

“What’s notable about the Florida straw poll is less who won than who lost…The week’s big winner in the Republican primary is nobody.” … “Herman Cain?” … “The man who brought you Godfather’s Pizza…”

Think about this. We live a media-created world where it’s now racist to state that a President who likes to play basketball likes to play basketball. And so, under their rules (not mine) shouldn’t condescending to a black man and intentionally diminishing his resume qualify as a full-blown, four alarm hate crime?

And no, this isn’t media shorthand or coming from a place of affection. It’s undermining and belittling, but that’s the whole idea. What are Cain’s strengths? He’s a competent, successful former CEO with a ton of executive experience who has run a Federal Reserve and who knows how to — wait for it, wait for it — create jobs.

But instead of that, all we get is pizza, pizza, pizza.

A transcript from CNN this very afternoon:

“Plus, look out for the pizza man. Herman Cain pulled off a stunning upset in Florida…”

To turn his strengths into negatives the MSM goes right at them with this constant “pizza” refrain and this refrain is becoming so obvious that during my Google search I came across this.

And things will only get worse if Cain’s campaign continues its ascent. For example, just as they teamed up with the MSM in 2008 to attempt to destroy the existential threat that is Sarah Palin, “Saturday Night Live” — the same SNL that can’t find anything to ridicule Obama over — has aimed their mighty guns at Herman Cain:

See, he’s not only a buffoon — he’s a PIZZA BUFFOON!

What Herman Cain really is is a great man and a great American who has accomplished more in a single lifetime than most of us could in ten. And if he were the exact same man but a liberal Democrat, the media would be exalting him as the Second Coming. We know this because they exalted Barack Obama as the First Coming and the only thing Obama ever accomplished was somehow missing all those “God Damn America” sermons; we know this because all that degenerate race-baiter Al Sharpton had to do in order to be treated like some kind of elder statesman was replace his gold disco chains with a tie.

But Cain’s not a liberal Democrat, he’s a God-fearing, rock-ribbed, flag-waving, Tea Partying Republican — which is just fine with the MSM as long as your skin is the right color. But Cain also happens to be a black man which makes him something that must be destroyed and marginalized.

Quick side note and correction: Last week I wrote a Big Journalism piece declaring the GOP race a “two-man race” between Romney and Perry. After the results of the Florida straw poll were released, I was never so happy to be so wrong.
