Tuesday Crib Sheet: Media Bias Or Bias Against Media?, NYT Blames OWS Violence On "Fringe"

Cain attacks the media, but not everyone is so convinced:

See, it’s a strategy. You should support this because he’s playing by his own rules and not letting The Media boss him around.

On the other hand, he’s also not denying anything Bialek said.

[…]

Sorry, I’m now kind of convinced of his guilt. He’s trying to change the subject.

Not reassuring.

While he attempts to hoodwink you into thinking this is some principled stance, what I see is a guy who does not want to deny specific details (did he meet with Bialek? Did he upgrade her hotel room? Did the meeting end on a positive note or a negative one and if negative, why? ), because I see a guy who is worried that his specific denials will be proven false in turn.

So he keeps to the general. The vague. Even while he says he will not refer to his accusers’ “vague” or “nonspecific” allegations, he ignores the specific and very un-vague ones, and will only offer “vague” and “nonspecific” demurrals in turn.

I understand the strategy of batting away accusations, but, as seen with Newt Gingrich, it’s not the best strategy every time.

Also this:

Here’s what I believe: Any idiot who kneejerkedly takes a position directly contrary to what they think the media is saying is just as much a prisoner of the media’s mind-wash as the most goosestepping liberal.

Amen.

Obama and Sarkozy caught trash-talking Benyamin Netanyahu on hot mics. Reporters were reportedly asked to sign an agreement to not report on the foreign relations gaffe.

NYT then: “Tea Partiers are responsible for the behavior of every single person, every single conservative, in this history of EVER.” NYT now: “Despite the over 100 documented cases of criminal acts, despite the mob violence, the rioting, the pushing of people down the stairs, that’s only the fringe participants of OWS.”

– CNN was the only cable news network to carry the presser held by Cain accuser Sharon Bialek and Gloria Allred.

– Proposed Seattle high school raises First Amendment concerns as proposed rule places content under review of the principal.

– Is the media dishonest? Another poll says yes.
