CNN's Blitzer Unintentionally Backs Romney on Israel Claim

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer stepped in it while trying to distract from Gov. Romney’s correct assertion that damage has been done to Israeli/U.S. relations under Obama.

Every time Israel came up during the three presidential debates, Romney would point out that Obama said he was going to put some “daylight” between Israel and the U.S.

Obama denied having said this every time Romney brought it up, but the truth is that in 2009 Obama said, “During the [Bush Presidency] there was no space between us and Israel, and what did we get from that? When there is no daylight, Israel just sits on the sidelines, and that erodes our credibility with the Arab states.”

Romney 1, Obama 0.

Nevertheless, in a recent show, Blitzer tried to provide Obama some wiggle room on this.

He did so by saying:

When I talk to people in the White House, people in the Obama administration, I would ask why isn’t [Obama] visiting Israel? And I was told he wanted to offer some tough love to Israel. He wanted Israel to freeze settlement activity in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. It was a big issue with Prime Minister Netanyahu and he wanted some space.

Quick question — What’s the difference between wanting “some space” between Israel and the U.S. and wanting “some daylight” between the two? Obviously, there is no difference.

Therefore, far from proving Romney wrong, Blitzer has further substantiated his claim.
