Michelle Obama Pushing Anna Wintour for Ambassador Post

Michelle Obama Pushing Anna Wintour for Ambassador Post

Guess who is in line to be the next U.S. ambassador to France. Here’s a clue – Michelle Obama is pushing for her. Would you believe Anna Wintour, Vogue editor and major Obama bundler?

Wintour is reportedly “under consideration” for some ambassadorship, and according to one insider, France is her preferred destination:

Anna Wintour’s friends have expressed an interest in making sure that she is nominated to become an ambassador to a major Western European nation. I have had this confirmed from a friend in the political office at the White House. I am also told there is only a slight chance Wintour will end up in London. Paris is her number one choice. I gather Ms. Wintour finds the Paris house and grounds particularly spectacular.

Toby Young, author of “How to Lose Friends and Influence People” had a hilarious response to the reputed cold-hearted editor:

She presides over the fashion business with the imperial hauteur of a Prussian general and expects instant, unquestioning obedience. It’s hard to imagine a personality less suited to the world of international diplomacy. She left school at 16 and has been working in fashion ever since. Obama’s chauffeur probably knows more about international relations than her. It’s like Caligula making his horse a senator.

Wintour did a makeover on Michelle just after Obama was elected in 2009, even offering the March 2009 issue as the “Michelle Obama Edition.” A source near the White House said, “Anna makes Mrs. Obama feel glamorous.” Wintour, Obama’s fourth largest bundler, has also raised huge sums of money for Obama, obtaining more than $2.68 million for him by last September; her “Runway to Win” fashion merchandise raised $40 million more.

This is truly exciting. If Wintour goes to France, then White House Chef Cristeta Comerford can grab Italy (she’s Filipino, but hey, Italians live for food) Reggie Love, Obama’s body man, can be our man in Greece, which means that Obama will probably send Bo, his dog to Vietnam (a job that may not last long. Sorry, Bo.)

All you have to do if you’re a media personality is support the Obamas in the manner they’re accustomed to, and you, too, can have an ambassadorship, and the best of service.

Unless you’re in Benghazi.
