NYT Says America Needs a Gun Ban, Ignores Foreign Gun Violence

The New York Times is trying to squeeze every possible political gain imaginable from the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

Their latest ruse is to take a cherry-picked collection of “facts” and choice studies, that are far too broad to be applicable, and put them together into one incoherent whole with the aim of proving that the solution to the Dec. 14 shooting is an all-out gun ban.

After all–it’s what Britain did and it’s a step that has been taken in degrees by many of the world’s “developed countries.”

The NYT even uses quotes from Mayor Bloomberg to establish the “fact” that out of every “industrialized country,” the U.S. is “the only one” with a public shooting problem.

To make these arguments, the NYT conveniently ignores these incidents:

1. Anders Behring Breivik killed 77 in Norway on July 22, 2011

2. Derrick Bird killed 12 and wounded 11 in a shooting spree in Northwest England in June 2010.

3. Pekka-Eric Auvinen killed 8 in high school in Finland on November 7, 2007.

4. Robert Steinhaeuser killed 13 high school teachers, 2 classmates, and 1 policeman in Germany on April 26, 2002.

And the list of international incidents goes on and on, detailing a problem the NYT and Mayor Bloomberg want us to view as a uniquely American problem.
