Peter Schweizer, the president of the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI), said the mainstream media are a part of the permanent political class “ecosystem,” and that is why they ignore the rampant crony capitalism in Washington, D.C.
He stated the mainstream media live in Washington, D.C. and they like associating with the permanent political class, especially as the cronyism they enable allows the D.C. elite to extract wealth from taxpayers to enrich themselves. Washington’s per capita income has surpassed that of even Silicon Valley, even though Washington does not produce valuable goods. The permanent political class, the three asserted, have an incentive to expand the size and scope of government to further enrich themselves.
Hannity noted the mainstream media want access, dinners, and invites to parties. He proudly claimed he has never been to the White House Correspondents Dinner, which has been dubbed as “Nerd Prom” but is emblematic of the the incestuous relationship of the permanent political class and the mainstream media.
Hannity recounted a time he came to Washington two years ago and went to the Breitbart Embassy in Washington, D.C. with Bannon and the late Andrew Breitbart. Hannity said he just could not stand D.C. and had to get out of town immediately.
“I gotta get out here,” Hannity said he remembers thinking when he was in Washington, D.C. for an event.
