Kate Obenshain: Media Begins to Destroy Rubio

Two days after the fact, CNN and MSNBC are still having a fine old time replaying FL. Senator Marco Rubio’s awkward sip of water. Kate Obenshain, author of “Divider-In-Chief” sees the same writing on the wall many do, including myself. Because the smart, attractive, not predominantly-white Rubio is a huge threat to Democratic power, this means the media must set its “JournOlist” on destroy:

The MSM are not content to sit back and let Marco Rubio challenge The Chosen One. They will fight back. And the more effective he is, as I believe he was Tuesday night, the harder they will hit him.

If you think about it, in his calm, likable way, Rubio dismantled many of the myths Obama has created. But he also exposed Obama’s core strategy: demonize anyone who has the temerity to disagree with his policies. …

That is what the MSM is beginning the process of here, by diverting attention from a strong speech and focusing on an awkward human moment.

There’s a longer game at work here, as well. This is also about the media inflicting as much damage as possible on Rubio before 2016. He’s almost certain to run for president, and the sooner the media can take him out, the more they can relax and start writing their Historical First Woman President pieces.

This is also nothing new. Back in October of 2011, the Washington Post attacked one of Rubio’s most attractive features — his biography. In their desperation, though, the Post got everything wrong and, because it has no integrity, instead of correcting the piece, it attempted to scrub the errors without anyone noticing and, naturally, after the damage had already been done.
