#RememberBreitbart: National Bloggers Club Honors Breitbart's Legacy

Building on the late Andrew Breitbart’s legacy of cultivating the next generation of conservative leaders and citizen-journalists in media, the National Bloggers Club announced three major initiatives on Friday, the one-year anniversary of Breitbart’s passing.

1) The Breitbart Blogger Scholarship: Citizen journalists are  encouraged to apply on the BlogBash.org website by pitching a story they think  Andrew would support. The winner will receive a $500 grant and will be announced during the 4th annual Blog Bash event at the Conservative Political Action Conference  (CPAC).

The scholarship winner will be determined by an independent review board, which includes Amy Kremer of the Tea Party Express, Anita Moncrief, the ACORN whistle-blower, and Brandon Darby, director of Citizen Patriot Response.

2) Andrew Breitbart’s Changing the Narrative Award: In coordination with Breitbart News, the National Bloggers Club is renaming its “Changing the Narrative Award” to the “Andrew Breitbart’s Changing the Narrative Award.” The grant memorializes Breitbart’s involvement in encouraging young citizen-journalists and furthering the cause of conservative media. It will be awarded at the Blog Bash event.

3) #RememberBreitbart Twitter contest: The National Bloggers Club will host Twitter-driven contests at 12pm, 3pm, and 6pm ET. Those on Twitter will be encouraged to share their favorite memories of Breitbart and favorite Breitbart quotes using the #RememberBreitbart hashtag. Winners will receive “Remember Breitbart” t-shirts.

In 2012, a month before his passing, Breitbart received the “Changing the Narrative Award” at the 2012 Blog Bash for his work on the Anthony Weiner story, which was dubbed “Weinergate.”

The National Bloggers Club works to “educate, provide access, and further equip citizen-journalists” and also presents the annual Blog Bash party at CPAC.
