As if to prove to CNN that the right decision was made to
fire not renew Roland Martin’s contract, the CNN contributor (whose contract expires April 6) lashed out at his soon-to-be former bosses Friday on HuffPost Live.
You have largely white male executives who are not necessarily enamored with the idea of having strong, confident minorities who say, ‘you know, I can do this.’ I am simply saying ‘give folks a shot.’ We deliver, but we never get the big piece, the larger salary, to be able to get from here to there.
If you think I’m mischaracterizing what Martin said, here is what the Huffington Post’s wrote:
Outgoing CNN pundit Roland Martin said on Thursday that executives who were uncomfortable with hiring black people as hosts had held back his rise at the network. …
He added that it was never made clear to him why [he wasn’t given his own show], but that he suspected race had something to do with it.
Yes, Martin seems especially bitter over the fact that CNN never gave him his own show, which he said was his goal when he joined the network.
The man’s a legend in his own mind. Martin is a character actor, not a leading man, and one who wore out his welcome long ago. Not because of the color of his skin, but because he says terrible and incendiary things like what is quoted above.
Moreover, look at how ungrateful he is. He spent over six-years with CNN, likely getting very well paid for a job thousands would kill for. But it was not enough for Martin, because nothing is ever enough for the spoiled, entitled left.
“Thanks for the six great years, racists!”
