For the first time in eight months, President Obama’s disapproval rating in the daily Gallup tracking poll has hit 49%. The last time this occurred was late October of 2012, just weeks prior to Obama winning his re-election bid. As of Monday, President Obama is upside down in approval with 45% approval, 49% disapproval.
Gallup’s polling is almost perfectly in line with the Real Clear Politics’ poll of polls, which has Obama at 46% approval, 48.9% disapproval.
This is a major reversal from two months ago, when those numbers were flipped in the president’s favor.
Obama’s falling approval numbers appear to be directly connected to the handful of scandals that have swirled around the White House for the last couple of months. With NSA leaker Edward Snowden on the run and dominating the news, and new revelations about the IRS breaking as late as Monday, the president appears to be in for another long week.
The Examiner first reported this and has more.
