The Tampa Bay Times’ political editor Adam C. Smith called Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) a flip-flopper on immigration reform on Thursday.
“This clip from the 2010 CNN/St. Pete Times U.S. Senate debate shows how Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) was crystal clear back then in his opposition to any pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the country,” Smith wrote Thursday afternoon, showing a clip in the debate Rubio had with Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek in the 2010 U.S. Senate debate.
Smith highlighted how the Washington Examiner’s Byron Yorkhad compared Rubio’s changing of positions to similar behavior exhibited by 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who lost his bid in the last election to President Barack Obama. York called Rubio’s behavior “a flip-flop of Romneyesque proportions.”
