Obama to Dems: Don't Believe the Huffington Post

President Obama defended his likely choice to head the Federal Reserve Wednesday, telling House Democrats that while he still hasn’t made his pick, Larry Summers shouldn’t be written off by the left.

One Democrat described the president’s defense as “full-throated,” another said that Obama suggested Democrats not bitterly cling to everything they read in the Huffington Post:

The Hill:

President Obama on Wednesday defended Larry Summers from liberal criticism that the former Treasury secretary is unfit to head the Federal Reserve. …

“He gave a full-throated defense of Larry Summers and his record in helping to save the economy in the dark days of ’09,” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) said after the meeting. Obama, Connolly added, “felt that Larry had been badly treated by some on the left and in the press.”

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) (D-Calif.) said Obama told the Democrats “not to believe everything you read in The Huffington Post,” a reference to the liberal website that’s been critical of Summers’s record.
