On the 8 p.m. EDT edition of Al Jazeera America’s one-hour news program on Tuesday, host John Seigenthaler made no mention of the acts of terror associated with the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas when giving “background” on the Brotherhood.
Seigenthaler, the former NBC host, said the Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt 85 years ago and is a conservative movement that pushes the Egyptian government to adopt Islamic law. He said it has been “banned or repressed” for much of its existence, but had “widespread support among the poor” because they provide social services, such as medical care, education, food and clothes. He said they have done the same in other countries in the Middle East and mentioned that Hamas is an “offshoot” of the Brotherhood.
There was no mention whatsoever of the terrorism associated with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
