NBC Digital Starts Laying Off Workers

Only just over a year into his tenure as Executive VP of NBC Digital, Rob Hayes is laying off five percent of his workforce.

Hayes replaced former chief Vivi Zigler in June of 2012 and was expected to put NBC Digital into creative overdrive after great success developing the digital strategy for Showtime Networks.

The layoffs come after a roster of new executives were added to NBC Digital in what was termed a “reorganization” of the division.

The new executives were as follows: “Michael Martin, SVP, Product, Technology & Operations; Tom Blaxland, VP, Production; Eddie Lee, VP, Technology; and Ross Cox, VP, Product. In addition to those hires, Matt Allen and Trideev Dasgupta wee upped to VP, Digital Integrations and VP, Digital Business Development & Strategy, respectively, reporting to Ann McGowan, SVP, Digital Business Development & Strategy.”

“Today’s layoffs are the result of that restructuring, insiders say,” Deadline Hollywood reports.

NBC has declined to comment on the new round of layoffs.
