HuffPo Writer: Leggero's Non-Apology for Pearl Harbor Joke 'Normal'

On January 4th the Huffington Post (HuffPo) ran a column describing Natasha Leggero’s lack of apology to Pearl Harbor veterans as keeping with the comedic norm of not apologizing for jokes.

To be clear, Leggero not only refused to apologize for mocking and laughing at Pearl Harbor veterans during NBC’s News Year’s Eve broadcast, but actually explained why she did not think an apology was necessary. In other words, she issued an non-apology.

According to the HuffPo writer , “apologies for jokes are rare, and non-apologies are even rarer.”

The HuffPo said Leggero’s non-apology is “more in line with that of Joan Rivers, who refused to apologize for a joke about the Holocaust she made on a red carpet [in February 2013].”

On January 3rd comedian Amy Schumer tweeted support for Leggero’s New Year’s Eve joke and Seth Rogen tweeted his opinion that Leggero is “funny as f–k.”
