NBC In Miami Calls Republican Party 'Reprehensive'

NBC does it again, this time through a Miami affiliate that broadcast a graphic (see above) that read: “Reprehensive Party of Florida.” You have to ask yourself what kind of culture there is at NBC News that makes staffers believe that dehumanizing Republicans in this way is okay. This isn’t a one-off. It is a troubling pattern that just never stops.

The full segment is below:

Lenny Curry, the Republican Party of Florida Chairman, fired off a letter to the station demanding an apology and floating the idea of legal action:

President and General Manager Larry Olevitch

WTVJ – NBC MIAMI

Vice President of News Migdalia FigueroaWTVJ – NBC MIAMI

Mr. Olevitch and Ms. Figueroa,

I am writing to request your immediate action regarding the news segment you ran last night on our ad, “Ran Away,” that calls the Republican Party of Florida the “Reprehensive Party of Florida.” This blatant disregard for journalist ethics and impartiality is a complete abdication of your station’s professional duty to truth at best and slander at worst. We are currently reviewing our legal options against your station, but at minimum we demand an on-air apology for violating journalist ethics and public discipline for any employees responsible for the creation of this graphic.

We have attached the screenshots where the “Reprehensive Party of Florida” text appears. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this serious matter.

Sincerely,

Lenny Curry

Republican Party of Florida Chairman

This is just the latest in an unbelievably long list of outrageous offenses committed recently by NBC News, MSNBC, and now a local affiliate, against the political right.

A poll released this week shows that NBC and MSNBC have sunk to the bottom of trusted news outlets.
