Appearing on the inaugural edition of Breitbart News Saturday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, conservative stalwart and talk radio host David Webb said five years after the Tea Party formed, those in the movement are not only “better, smarter fighters,” but also a fundamental part of the broader American culture.
Webb, who hosts the The David Webb Show on weeknights on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, said that is why the mainstream press and the left keep attacking the movement. He said the attacks are proof that the movement is only gaining in strength and having an impact.
“The Tea Party is stronger because the left has to keep attacking it,” Webb said. He mentioned that the movement took the late Andrew Breitbart’s advice to “learn your craft” and “do it better,” and that is why the movement is stronger and smarter five years later.
Webb, who had the 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday morning slot for years on Sirius XM, moderated a panel at the event honoring the five-year anniversary of the Tea Party movement last Thursday. He took great pride in passing the time slot to Breitbart News Saturday, which will air weekly from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST. The program will be hosted by Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon and a rotation of Breitbart News editors and contributors. Bannon said the Saturday show is going to be more live news, especially in analyzing what the typical Friday news dump really means, while the Sunday show will continue to drill down on the seminal news events to set the news cycle.
Webb spoke about meeting with Sirius officials with the late Andrew Breitbart and throwing around ideas for shows, and he said he was so proud that “something that started with Andrew and me” had evolved into the Breitbart News Saturday show.
“He’s right here, right now,” Webb, who is also a Breitbart News contributor on “The Conversation” vertical, said of Andrew Breitbart. “I miss him terribly.”
Calling it a collaboration of friends and “like-minded and honest people about honest and open debate,” Webb said the Breitbart News team and their stories are “invaluable” to him and his shows.
Bannon spoke about how Webb led two massive Tea Party and tax day rallies in liberal New York and has been an influential figure in the movement from the beginning, one who has also broadened the reach of the Tea Party.
“Tea Party has done something more important,” Webb said. “We’re relevant because we resonate with Americans. The Tea Party has been a part of the culture, and that is a win for the Tea Party.”
Webb himself continues to confront the institutional left, like when he went to North Carolina’s “Moral Monday” march and confronted those who smeared Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) as a “ventriloquist’s dummy.” He called out those who labeled the Tea Party as racist and asked them for examples of the supposed racism. None of the people Webb interviewed could provide any examples, and his segments that aired on Fox News’ Hannity were devastatingly effective.
But Webb is also taking his message to a broader audience, as his column in the influential Capitol Hill publication, The Hill, proves.
That is why conservative talk radio icon Mark Levin, who was also a guest on Breitbart News Saturday, said that he always listens to Webb when he is done taping his show, and Levin urged Webb to get himself on more platforms because he is a fearless and effective messenger for the conservative cause.
The inaugural Breitbart News Saturday show aired on the two-year anniversary of the tragic death of Andrew Breitbart.
