Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will reportedly launch a subscription digital video channel in the coming months in a venture with former executives from NBC and CNN. Subscriptions will cost $10 a month or $100 per year.
According to a report in Capital New York, the digital video channel will tentatively be called “Rogue TV” and will feature political commentary from Palin in addition to advice and guidance “such as tips for parents and recipes. There are also tentative plans to have subscribers engage in regular video chats with Palin.”
“Rogue TV” will reportedly “be available through Tapp, the digital video service founded by former CNN chief Jon Klein and former NBC Universal entertainment executive Jeff Gaspin.” It is “expected to launch in April or May, and it would be one of the first of the digital channels offered by Tapp.”
Popular entities like World Wrestling Entertainment have launched digital channels this year to join Major League Baseball, the NFL, and other organizations.
This is not the first time that Palin, who has continued to influence the political debate without a radio or cable television show, has embraced new platforms. She pioneered the use of Twitter and Facebook after the 2008 election. The mainstream press who mocked her then for her Facebook and Twitter posts now use both platforms daily–as do nearly every political candidate and reporter.
