On March 26th the National Journal argued that the NRA “used one tweet to derail” Obama Surgeon General nominee Vivek Murthy.
That “one tweet,” sent by Murthy in 2012, described guns as “a health care issue”–which is a re-emerging gun control angle Breitbart News warned readers to watch out for in February of this year.
The National Journal published Murthy’s tweet: “Tired of politicians playing politics w/guns, putting lives at risk b/c they’re scared of the NRA. Guns are a health care issue.” The Journal then suggested this view represented nothing “particularly novel, even among Republicans holding the exact same position.”
And how do they know this? They know because “Jim Kessler with the centrist Democratic group Third Way” said so.
They listed a handful of moderates and RINOs who agree with Murthy’s position, then laid all their cards on the table: “When Murthy states gun violence is a health issue, he is merely stating the obvious.”
