Fox News' 'The Five' Earns 5x the Ratings of CNN's Wolf Blitzer

Ratings for CNN are still fading. This week Wolf Blitzer fell to fourth place below HLN, Fox News, and MSNBC, with Fox’s The Five earning five times Blitzer’s ratings.

During the 5 PM hour on July 1, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer fell to fourth place in the cable news races, pulling in only 29,000 viewers in the important 25-54 demographic. MSNBC’s The Ed Show earned 57,000 viewers at 5 PM. Even HLN’s Forensic Files succeeded in garnering 31,000 viewers in the demographic.

But the big winner was Fox News’ The Five, which pulled in 161,000 viewers in the demo, more than all the other three shows put together and just over five times more than Blitzer’s CNN numbers.

In total viewers, Blizter and HLN swapped places, earning Wolf the number three spot for the night.

This is all in keeping with how dominant Fox is in the cable news ratings game. In fact, Fox has outstripped the competition for 150 straight months.

Even HLN (once called Headline News Network) has been topping CNN in the hunt for ratings, coming in second for the second quarter this year.
