MSM, Liberals Offended Americans Want Secure Borders to Prevent Ebola Outbreak

Liberals and mainstream media writers seem offended that Americans want to take precautions–like securing the border–to prevent an Ebola outbreak at home.

Open borders and lax quarantine enforcement did not work out so well in Africa, where, contrary to mainstream media assertions, the Ebola outbreak started in March and spread like wildfire, ravaging the western part of the continent because of “porous borders” and “lax enforcement.”

On Sunday evening, Breitbart Texas published a leaked Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report that revealed that “at least 71 individuals from the three nations affected by the current Ebola outbreak have either turned themselves in or been caught attempting to illegally enter the U.S. by U.S. authorities between January 2014 and July 2014.”

The report has driven the news cycle all week. Even renowned doctors and retired surgeons like Dr. Ben Carson said the U.S. should be very cautious dealing with the ebola outbreak, since there is no cure and the virus could potentially mutate. Terrorism analysts have warned that Ebola can be used in bioterrorism attacks.

Leave it to the mainstream press and their liberal allies to reflexively dismiss the significance of all of that. Media Matters accused Breitbart News, Laura Ingraham, the Drudge Report, and other conservatives of exploiting the ebola outbreak to highlight the need for border security. Forget that Border Patrol agents have said illegal immigrants who have contagious diseases–like tuberculosis–have been released into the general population, hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant gangsters have come across the border, and terrorists are trying to exploit the porous border to do harm.

Over at the Washington Post, blogger Philip Bump tries to downplay the Breitbart report by saying it “bears mentioning because it is being mentioned.” Perhaps it is being mentioned because Americans–unlike African nations–would rather be safe than sorry.

“So the document shows, in short, that a certain number of people from countries where Ebola now exists were at some point this year apprehended by the government,” he blogs, not even acknowledging that the ebola outbreak started four months before he claims it did. The CDC, for some reason, did not respond to the Washington Post blogger before he posted his “nothing to see here” piece.
