Daily Beast: #JeSuisCharlie — Not So Much

A cartoon Muslima superhero has become a warrior against free speech, and the Daily Beast is thrilled.

Marvel Comics Muslima superhero Kamala Khan’s image was used by anti-free speech vandals who covered over our ads in San Francisco that called attention to Islamic anti-Semitism. “Anti-Muslim adverts on the sides of buses in San Francisco have been defaced with posters of the Pakistani-American teen superhero,” wrote Molly Hannon in the Beast, who enthused that Khan “is acutely aware of the difference between right and wrong.”

How so? Kamala Khan is being used to fight opposition to jihad and sharia (beheadings, mass rape, gender apartheid, creed apartheid) under the rubric of the myth of “Islamophobia.” What’s right about that?

Hannon writes that Khan “has become an unexpected counterweight to anti-Muslim bus ads that appeared in San Francisco in late January.” But actually, it’s not unexpected at all. Anyone who opposes jihad and sharia expects to be attacked, their name and property destroyed. And that’s what these criminals did. They destroyed our property.

According to Hannon, our ads are “racist” and San Francisco is “tolerant.” Yet Islam is not a race. If anything, the vicious anti-Semitism in the Quran is “racist.” And San Francisco is tolerant? San Francisco was the first city to issue a resolution, the first of its kind, condemning our earlier ads highlighting Muslim oppression of gays, women, and blacks. What planet are these people on?

“Soon,” Hannon writes, “anoymous [sic] graffiti artists and acitivists [sic] responded to the right-wing Islamophobic campaign, pasting posters of super-powered Kamala over the bigoted bus ads. Suddenly, the newest Ms. Marvel was a resistance figure of a sort, speaking for the more just side of Islam, albeit in very American terms.”

A “resistance” fighter. Like the Taliban, Hamas, and ISIS are resistance fighters. “AFDI,” according to Hannon, “is led by Pamela Geller, and claims to be a human rights organization protecting American freedom from Islamization. However, the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies AFDI as a hate group.”

“Claims to be a human rights organization.” Note “claims” — do mainstream media “journalists” ever say that with terror groups and terror-supporting groups like CAIR, etc., or with the SPLC itself?

“By playing to feelings, and fantasy,” Hannon writes, “Kamala Khan has challenged racism and defied distorted ideas about free speech. She’s actively countering stereotypes, one imaginatively defaced AFDI advertisement after another.”

No, Kamala Khan and the Muslim convert who drew her, G. Willow Wilson (who enthusiastically supported the defacing of our ads) reinforce the sad but true reality that sharia-adherent Muslims support restriction of free speech and truth. Wilson tweeted: “Some amazing person has been painting over the anti-Muslim bus ads in SF with Ms. Marvel graffiti. Spread love.”

A Muslima superhero is designed to promote a positive image of Muslims being used against the freedom of speech. The Charlie Hebdo slaughter was the Sept. 11 attack on free speech and free men. G. Willow Wilson and her Kamala Khan have enlisted on the wrong side.

Kamala Khan has become a symbol of the war against the freedom of speech.

The criminals who did it call themselves “Street Cred.” They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In America, we are still a nation of laws.

But it isn’t just them. Numerous people in the media and academia are lauding the defacing of our ads. Are we to understand that the media and academia are encouraging vandalism of speech they don’t like? It certainly seems so. So it would stand to reason that if you don’t like the creed apartheid, Islamic Jew-hatred, gender apartheid, and other hate speech in the Quran, the media seem to be suggesting that you should vandalize mosques.

Coming so soon after the Charlie Hebdo jihad massacre and the attack on the free speech and blasphemy conference in Copenhagen featuring Muhammad cartoonist Lars Vilks, this cheering-on of anti-free speech vandalism is gruesome. In the wake of these Muslim assaults on free speech, the president of the United States should have gone before the world and said that it is now incumbent upon every freedom-loving person, news organization, and media outlet to run those cartoons of Muhammad. Instead, he said nothing to erase the bitter memory of the fact that, two years ago, amid other Islamic attacks on free expression, he said, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

And now vandalism of ads that are critical of Islamic Jew-hatred is chic. What is most ironic about the depiction of this Muslima “superhero” is that she isn’t fighting female genital mutilation, honor violence under Islam, honor killings, misogyny, gender apartheid, creed apartheid, or the sub-class status for women under the Shariah. No, she is fighting truth. She is attacking free speech. She is enforcing the brutal and extreme Shariah.

It’s time to stand up.

That’s why my organization, the human rights advocacy group the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), will be holding a contest for cartoons of Muhammad, and an exhibit of Muhammad cartoons this May in Garland, Texas. The keynote speaker will be Dutch freedom fighter and Parliamentarian Geert Wilders – one of the very few politicians on the international scene who dares the speak the truth about the jihad threat.

The contest will be online, with entries posted at the AFDI website. The winning cartoon will be announced at the May 3 cartoon exhibit in Garland. The winning cartoonist will be awarded a $10,000 prize.

The cartoon exhibit will feature images of Islam’s prophet, both historic and contemporary, and speeches by leading voices of freedom and internationally renowned free speech advocates. Also speaking will be brave artists who are unbowed by violent threats and determined to stand for the freedom of speech.

The exhibit will be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on Sunday, May 3. This was the site of a Muslim conference denouncing ‘Islamophobia’ — an obscene stand for them to take after the Charlie Hebdo massacre – and our massive Free Speech Rally outside that event. The Muslim event was held in a hall owned by the local school district. When asked why they allowed that event on their premises, they answered that their hall was open to anyone who wished to rent it. So we are renting it for our Muhammad Cartoon Exhibit.

We hope that this event will give others the courage to stand up as well, and show the world that they aren’t going to submit to this savagery. Otherwise, it is no exaggeration to say that all will be lost.
