On Thursday, Polish President Andrzej Duda ripped “fake news” reports that suggested his wife snubbed President Donald Trump’s attempt to shake her hand.

“Contrary to some surprising reports my wife did shake hands with Mrs. and Mr. Trump @POTUS after a great visit. Let’s FIGHT FAKE NEWS,” Duda tweeted.

Video of Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda walking past Trump—and his outstretched hand—to shake First Lady Melania Trump’s hand went viral. Journalists who want to find any way to diminish Trump tweeted the video with glee.

But the Polish first lady shook President Trump’s hand right after she shook Melania Trump’s, and it appeared that President Trump was simply initially out of her line of sight.

In a joint conference with Duda, Trump blasted the “fake news” media that he said have been covering him in a “very dishonest way”

“They have been fake news for a long time. They’ve been covering me in a very, very dishonest way. Do you have that also, by the way, Mr. President?” Trump said.

Trump delivered a landmark speech in Poland, and many saw in it the emergence of a “Trump Doctrine.”
